Annual Exhibition of Low Vision Services and Technology 2024

Our Chelmsford Exhibition is on Wednesday 29th May 2024 at the Central Baptist Church. The leading low vision companies will be in attendance, together with local and national charities and other services. This is an opportunity to try out the latest low vision technology and equipment and to get information and support for sight loss.  Essex Sight staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Colchester Coffee Morning

Our Colchester coffee morning is on the first Tuesday of each month 10am-12noon.  If you, or a member of your family is visually impaired, or if you are a carer for someone with sight loss, then come along for a chat and enjoy a coffee or tea. Location: Level Best Cafe, 26 St John's Street, Colchester CO2 7HB. Note: there is no longer a coffee morning at the Quaker Meeting House. This venue is wheelchair accessible.

Employment Training Opportunity

Support 4 Sight, the Visual impairment Charity covering the West of Essex, is running a County wide National Lottery funded employment project to help blind and partially sighted people with all aspect of employment. Their support can range from completing an application form, writing a cv or improving interview skills, as well as offering support to those who are already in work but experiencing difficulties due to their sight loss. The support is tailored to the individual`s needs and can be delivered either 1 on 1 or in group settings. In addition, Support 4 Sight also offers digital training to those who need assistance. Correspondence Reading and Form Filling Service

Do you need help reading correspondence or form filling, but are unable to visit our Colchester Sight Centre? We have friendly and knowledgeable volunteers who can visit you at home to help. They are fully DBS checked and you are assured confidentiality at all times. The service is free, but must be booked in advance and is subject to availability of volunteers and location. We can also offer a similar service in our Sight Centre in Colchester.

Have you got a smart phone or tablet and don't make full use of it? We can offer a 1:1 session showing you how to get the most out of your gadget, including low vision apps and accessibility functions. These sessions must be booked in advance.
