Essex Sight Annual Exhibition 2019

We will be holding our Annual Exhibition at First Sight in Colchester. Come along and meet the team as well as finding out about the latest products and services available for you from the leading low vision specialists. How to get here by bus The High Street, Queen Street and East Hill are well served by many local bus routes with bus stops just a few minutes walk from Firstsite. Queen Street Stop Jc, just by the Curzon Cinema is our nearest bus stop, this is served by bus routes 64, 64A and 65. Firstsite is also just a 10 minute walk from Colchester’s bus station on Osborne Street. For bus times, check Network Colchester’s website or phone 01206 877620 and Essex County Council’s Interactive Bus and Train map. By rail Firstsite is a few minutes’ walk from Colchester Town Station via Queens Street, or 25 minutes’ walk or short bus ride from Colchester mainline station. Journey time from London Liverpool Street to Colchester is approximately 50 minutes on Abellio Greater Anglia services. Walking Firstsite just a short walk from Colchester’s High Street and can be reached via a walkway off Queen Street, by the Curzon Cinema, or via Lewis Gardens. By car There is good access to Colchester from all parts of the country via the A12, A120, M25 and A14. To reach the town centre by road, exit the A12 at junction 27 and follow signs to the town centre. Firstsite offers parking for disabled visitors only; there is no on-site parking. Disabled parking bays are allocated on a first come, first served basis – please call 01206 713 700 when planning your visit so we can ensure easy access.

Correspondence Reading and Form Filling Service

Do you need help reading correspondence or form filling, but are unable to visit our Colchester Sight Centre? We have friendly and knowledgeable volunteers who can visit you at home to help. They are fully DBS checked and you are assured confidentiality at all times. The service is free, but must be booked in advance and is subject to availability of volunteers and location.

Coffee and Chat

Our regular social is a chance to chat with other visually impaired people and their families and carers. For just £1 you can have tea or coffee, biscuits and our friendly volunteers are on hand to help and can provide information and resources. Colchester Social Tuesdays 10 - 12pm at the Colchester Sight Centre Clacton Social at Thursdays 1-3pm at CADOWS

Knitwits

Like to knit or crochet? Our knitting group meets on the first Thursday of each month 10am until 12noon at our Colchester Sight Centre. Bring your own project or knit for charity. All abilities welcome. We have magnifiers and large print patterns to help you.
